Bayt Al Qaim Islamic Centre (BAQIC) has been established since 2012 and registered as a charity in 2017 (charity no: 1171666). Its activities, particularly those around faith, began long before its formal registration and the development of its current centre.
In current times, there was a need to expand and service the Shia Community in Bradford to create a vision in line with Worldly developments and to create a well engaged educated youth participating in a social movement to hasten the return of the Awaited Saviour, Imam Al-Mahdi (ATFS).
The objectives of BAQIC are:
- The advancement of religion in accordance with the tenets, philosophy, ideology and traditions of Islamic doctrines of the Shia Ithna-Asheri Jaferi faith as narrated and interpreted by the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH & HP) and the Imams of Ahlul Bayt (PBUH).
- To develop youth through educational engagement and recreational participation, bringing about a positive influence to society.
- The relief of such members of the Muslim community who are poor and in distress.
- To promote inter faith dialogue with other communities, so as to enhance social harmony and better understanding amongst them.
- To provide assistance to those suffering from poverty, ill health, and natural disasters and to relieve elderly people in need.
The Facilities
BAQIC provides the following facilities:
- Thursday night Dua Kumayl and English lecture
- Friday Jumma prayers
- Children’s Islamic Education – Saturday Madrassa
- Children and Adult Qur’an classes – Evenings
- Youth activities including football, tennis, squash etc.
- Hadith classes (Learning from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him).
- Facilities for Janaza and other ceremonies.
The centre can accommodate up to 400 worshippers at any one time. In addition to the Thursday night programme which is well attended, the centre is very popular during Fridays, the two Eid festivals and Ramadan, the month of fasting. BAQIC is an open place of worship.[۱]
